Hugh's only real contender for the crown, Andy Race, saw his dreams die after just 4 laps with an oil pump failure leaving Hugh just needing to finish with a modicum of points to take the title. He managed this taking 3rd in the first race, behind Darren Smith who took the chequered flag in his first class A win just 15/100ths of a second ahead of veteran TVR racer Martin Crass. Class B honours went to series runner up Andy Race while 2010 champion Dave Chant took class C.
With the titles largely sorted in race 1, race 2 became a fight for track position with some high drama as everyone fought for position throughout the pack. And unfortunately, determined to finish with a flourish meant that Hugh pushed a little too hard on the last lap and had a coming together with the barrier. Perhaps not the way that he would have wanted to have been crowned 2011 TVR champion! Neverthless, we would like to pass on our sincere congratulations to all of our new champions.
