After qualifying on Thursday night, it is once again an Audi 1-2 on the grid for the start of todays race. But unlike the Audi R8 that has dominated in recent years, the Audi R10 uses a 5.5litre V12 diesel! The Audi Sport Team Joest cars completed Sebring In 1st and 2nd places and there is every indication that they will see similar success at Le Mans. The lead car, no 7, is driven by Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish who set the pole time of 3'32"090. In 3rd and 4th place are the two Pescarolo Sport Judds whereas former TVR racers Bob Berridge and Gareth Evans lie in 11th position with their Synergy Motorsport AER. In LMP2 class the main TVR interest is probably focussed on the Rollcentre Racing Judd driven by former Tuscan, Cerbera and T400 racer Martin Short. He is sitting in 3rd place in class, 14th overall.
The Astons have dominated GT1 and are 2 seconds a lap faster than the 3rd place Corvette whilst the other TVRCC favourite, Laurence Tomlinson, who last year campaigned the Team LNT T400Rs, is sitting in 46th overall and 10th in class in his Panoz.
The TVRCC is also pleased to announce that our charity cyclists arrived at Le Mans without incident on Wednesday and are aiming once again to raise £2500 to train another dog for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
