At lunchtime today, 6 June 2004, 28 cyclists with 8 support crew set off from the Dorset monthly meet at the Avon Causeway to cycle the 250 mies to Le Mans in aid of Hearing Dogs. This event, now in its 9th year, aims to raise at least £2500 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in order to train another dog. Since its inauguration in 1996 when just two cyclists and two support team undertook the 250 mile, three day event, the charity cycle ride has raised well over £20,000 and thus have trained 9 dogs.
The cheque for last year's event was handed over by Dorset RO and cycle ride co-ordinator Paul Shrimpton to the local representative from Hearing Dogs at the Bristol Classic Car Show in February. If you would like to support this worthwhile event, you can make a donation to the cycle ride by calling the Club Office on 01952 822126
