Following last Friday's sad news from Bristol Avenue, we have today received the following update from Mr Tony Hodson, the Transport and General Workers' Union convener at Blackpool.
Letters were received by TVR's staff on Saturday morning confirming that Matthew Gibson, Kerry Bailey and Philip Long of PKF (UK) Ltd have been called in to act as administrators for Blackpool Automotive. The letter also stated that outstanding wages and holiday pay for December would not be paid.
Tony Hodson, Union Convenor at TVR commented today exclusively to the TVR Car Club:
"The way the workforce has been treated is despicable. Up until mid-day on Friday Blackpool Automotive assured us that the wages for the workforce would be paid in to the bank that day, but unfortunately they weren't.
"As a consequence of Blackpool Automotive also informing the Benefits Agency that their employees would be receiving their wages and holiday pay, no benefits have been paid to any of the workers. Subsequently with no benefits and no wages Christmas is a non-event this year for the Bristol Avenue workforce.
"These actions have left many families in dire straights; I don't know how the TVR management sleep at night.
"We are now in the hands of the administrators and a meeting in pencilled in with them for the 2nd of January.
"We will keep the TVR Car Club informed of any further developments and we thank you all for your support.
