TVRCC visit to GP Masters 2006
Silverstone
Saturday/Sunday 12/13th
August 2006
Around 160 TVRs lined up alongside the Team Wright TVR Race Transporter at Silverstone with Nigel Mansell's 1992 F1 Championship winning Williams sheltering form the elements under the awning. All 15 of the GP masters toured the circuit in Tuscan 2 Convertibles accompanied by a range of other TVRs which, when combined with a demonstration of some of the TVRCC Challenge Cup/Dunlop Tuscan Challenge cars in front of a crowd of 40000+ ensured that this was an excellent coup for the TVRCC.
To quote from Howard Bryan, Sprint Deputy Editor, "To have 15 legends of motor racing posing in 15 brand new Tuscan 2 Convertibles travelling aroung Silverstone GP circuit is the kind of publicity the marque needs."
Despite the weather which saw one of the skimply dressed grid girls collapse from the cold although at least the rain did hold off long enough for the drivers' parade to take place topless, everyone who attended agreed that this was an excellent event. Many thanks to Club member Don Hastie who conceived the original idea and proactively drove it through to conclusion with military precision.
