Le Mans 24 Hour 2002
is this the World's best spectator motoring race? Its not shown in these photos but the weather was unbelievable - it was at least 30 degrees plus for the whole week. Many TVR owners made the journey down through France to Le Mans arriving over the week of 10th June onwards. Most people take the opportunity of being in the midst of the action and camp - TVRs were in force on Houx, Houx Annexe (with the TVRCC roadshow trailer and TVR2) and camping Bleu. The atmosphere on the campsites was fantastic and the veterans were obvious - usually the paddling pools, fridges (there is mains power available), kitchens, televisions!! and industrial BBQs give them away.

The course of events goes something like this...
(and apologies for slow page - loads of photos!)

Thursday: stock up with bier at local supermarkets, watch practice, qualifying

by Paul Calland

Go into local village of Arnage for lunch and a cold beer!
Setup your camping area... or roadshow trailer!
Cool off in the extensive leisure facilities
Friday night - Drivers parade in Le Mans
Support Shorty!
Friday: pit lane open to all
and you can really get close up
MG mechanics sporting colour coded hair
Very smart Bentley pits - easily the best looking car
Johnny Herbert and team practicing driver changes
Oreca Dellora team practice pit stops
Morgan team showing off old and new
Saturday: The race starts, the Bentley looks good...
Sunday: 3am night time atmosphere is electric
Everybody loves a tryer - Peugeot comes in on 3 wheels
As all the cars finish the crowd surges forward
Johnny Herbert and Audi team on the podium
A spectator with a small souvenir
Back to the campsite to catch up on some sleep!

Also why not check out the following Le Mans pics and Links:

Steve's Motor pages - loads of pics, especially of the drivers parade and a huge range of the sort of interesting motors that are typical of Le Mans

The TVRCC East Sussex Bottle Wall
The famous bottle wall, created at great risk to life, limb and liver!

Le Mans.org - the official Le Mans website with many sections of pictures of the whole proceedings from setup to finish. Not TVR orientated obviously but a great overview.

If you know of any other Le Mans related links you think would be worth adding to this page please let us know.
