| The
NEC Sportscar Show and the TVRCC 'Roadshow'! |
This
exciting high performance car show was held at Birmingham's
National Exhibition Centre on May 25/26.
The Sportscar Show 2002 had doubled in size since its launch in
April 2001 with over 10 manufacturer stands, the first ever interactive
gaming championship and drivers from the 2001 British Touring Car
Championship winning team on hand to open the show. Displays of
some of the world's fastest cars and rare vehicle collections compliment
parts and accessory stands, memorabilia, auto-jumble and the exciting
Sporting Bears arena offering passenger rides in exotic sports
cars, in return for charitable donations.
More
importantly the TVR Car Club was there showing off
a selection of members cars - this year with a 'blue'
theme. The centre piece was Richard Wrights TVR No2
- now commonly being referred to as 'Blue 2', the
two Andys with an immaculate V8S and the second Tamora
to roll off the production lines respectively and
finally Duncans SEAC, now sporting recently fitted
side pipes!
However the biggest part of the TVRCC display (literally!) was
the first outing for what is going to be the TVRCC 'Roadshow'.
Courtesy of sponsors Jeld-Wen UK Ltd we now have a 40 foot display
trailer which is going to be kitted out so that it can participate
at as many national and international events possible promoting
the TVR Car Club. Richard Mayoh - TVRCC Events Organiser and Richard
Wright - owner of TVR Blue 2, have worked hard on making this possible
and we are now looking for any other help we can get to get this
facility up and running.

The trailer has been used as sales and display facility for a window
manufacturer and has a fold out side unit with windows giving a
very useful large floor area inside. It has already been signwritten
and now sports very large TVRCC logos and roadshow lettering. Richard
Wright who coincidentally has offered his tractor unit to pull
the trailer to events, has already noticed a lot of interest when
it was being driven to the NEC. It already has lighting and electrics
throughout and is fitted with a very neat and quite new kitchen
facility. However the main display area needs re-decorating and
it definately needs new carpet tiles. Can anyone help with materials
for this, wield a paintbrush or just want to give a hand? Or is
anyone willing to sponsor some of the re-fit? if so please contact Richard
Mayoh in return we may be able to display your company name
as a sponsor on the trailer.
The intention is that it will carry TVR Blue 2, some regalia items
for sale, TVRCC literature/membership application forms, display
boards with TVRCC information and TVR history, interesting TVR
memorabilia and event support materials such as banners, flags
etc. It will be available for any and all TVRCC members as a centre
point at events, somewhere to shelter from the rain on the wet
ones, maybe even a place to get a coffee... or anything else anyone
can think of!
Time is definately of the essence as its next outing will be Le
Mans where it will be situated on the Houx campsite - where you
won't be able to miss it! So if you can offer any help in any way
please contact Richard Mayoh.
and if you fancy showing YOUR TVR at a future event or can just
offer some time to help man the stand please also feel free to
contact Richard.
