TVRs, Ties & Spies 2021

Everyone who has booked for the event will be receiving an info pack on Tuesday 17th / Wednesday 18th August. As the postal system is still under pressure from the COVID pandemic, the details are all here as well, and if your pack does not arrive in time please do not worry, just contact the TVRCC Office staff at the event.

Welcome to the long awaited TVRs, Ties and Spies, we hope that you will enjoy the activities we have planned for this weekend.  A lot of thought and effort has gone into organising these by a small team of volunteers. Without their efforts this event would not be taking place.

You will find enclosed in your information pack:
  • Blue Wristband for Friday night entertainment
  • Yellow Wristband for Saturday night dinner
  • Purple Wristband for Millbrook Security Admission
  • Green Wristband Bletchley Park Entrance
  • Weekend Souvenir goody voucher
  • Bletchley Park Guide Book voucher
  • Millbrook Driving Safety Briefing time
  • Indemnity Forms for Driver and Passenger
  • Hotel Allocation
The information pack and the details below contain everything you should need to know about the weekend,  please read it fully. If after reading the contents you have an unanswered question,  please do not hesitate to contact the Club Office on 01952 822126 before the event or on 07436 581892 from the afternoon of Friday 20th August 2021 onwards.

Please keep the information pack with you at all times.  It will help ensure you do not miss out on any of the activities and that you have the right wristband and tickets with you at the correct times.

REMEMBER

No Wristband = No Entry
Bring Your Driving License
Not wearing your wristband on arrival = delay  and annoying all the cars now queuing behind you

The Venues - Millbrook Proving Ground

Address:
Sat Nav location: MK45 2JQ

Millbrook Proving Ground
Millbrook, Bedfordshire
MK45 2JQ
Directions:
From M1 J13, take the A421 to Bedford / Marston Moretaine. Leave at Marston Moretaine exit and follow signs into Marston Moretaine.  At the T-junction, turn left then immediately right (signposted Ampthill). Proceed through village and turn left after Forest Centre towards Millbrook. Cross the railway, continue for approximately one mile and the Millbrook entrance is on the right.

Avoid the A507 as this will take you through Lidlington and Millbrook villages, which both have severe speed humps so we strongly recommend that you approach Millbrook via Marston Moretaine, Junction 13 of the M1 as above.

For entry to Millbrook you must be wearing the PURPLE wristband, please put it on before you arrive!

You can arrive at the site from 08:30 onwards. On admission to the site your wristbands will be checked and you should then follow the directions of the Marshals to the Steering Pad. Please do not attempt to gain access to any other part of the site as you will be asked to leave.

THE SAFETY BRIEFINGS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL DRIVERS & PASSENGERS AND WE MUST SEE YOUR DRIVING LICENCE.

If you do not attend a safety briefing you will not be issued with your driver or passenger wrist-band and without this you will not be permitted access to the circuits by the Millbrook Marshals.
Our use of the Millbrook facilities will be monitored by their marshals around the site. The marshals will be watching your driving and have the authority to revoke your driving privileges or remove you completely from the site.

We must all be escorted back to the main entrance by a Millbrook Follow-Me Car to leave the site. There will be a marshal at the Steering Pad exit, please speak to this marshal if you need to leave before the end of the event and they will arrange the Follow-Me Car for you. Make sure you have enough petrol to last you for the day’s driving plus a bit extra. The nearest petrol station is on the A421 approximately 3 miles away.

Insurance Cover At Millbrook

In all cases it is the responsibility of the car owner/policy holder to contact their insurer to ensure that the policy they hold does indeed cover the Millbrook driving day.  Even if your policy has Trackday cover do not assume it covers you automatically, it is usually a requirement of the policy that you notify the insurer in advance.

The event is not a track day or MSA approved, helmets are not required. There is no timing and speed limits are strictly applied. It is a driving experience on private roads. Speed is limited to 100mph on the High Speed Bowl and 55mph on the Alpine Course; that may sound slow but it’s very steep and twisty in places.

The Venues - Bletchley Park

Address:
Sat Nav location: MK3 6DS

Bletchley Park Trust
The Mansion, Bletchley Park
Milton Keynes, MK3 6EB

Bletchley Park is just off Watling Street (the old A5 now the V4 on the Milton Keynes grid map), leave M1 at Junction 13, then take the A421 to Watling Street.

If you are using a Sat-Nav please enter Sherwood Drive, Bletchley, MK3 6DS as their normal postal address will take you to the wrong entrance.

There are 2 refreshment venues at Bletchley, the Block C coffee shop which offers light lunches or just a quick coffee and cake or the Hut 4 Café which offers more substantial hot food, sandwiches, salads and drinks. You may decide to bring a picnic and sit in the wonderful grounds and soak up the atmosphere (weather permitting).

Picture
Remember – make sure you have enough petrol to last you for the day’s driving plus a bit extra. The nearest petrol station is on the  A421 approximately 3 miles away. The gates will open at approximately 9am. Please pull up to the security barrier in one of the two left-hand lanes where your wristbands will be checked by the Millbrook Security staff.
PLEASE NOTE This is a change from what is printed in the booklet:
You can arrive at the site from 08:30 onwards.
On admission your wristbands will be checked and you should then follow the directions of the Marshals to the Steering Pad.

Please do not attempt to gain access to any other part of the site as you will be asked to leave.

Briefings and Escorted Laps

THE SAFETY BRIEFINGS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL DRIVERS & PASSENGERS.
If you do not attend this you will not be issued with your driver and passenger wristbands, without these you will not be permitted access to the circuits by the Millbrook Marshals.

Wristbands for drivers & passengers will only be issued at the end of each driver briefing once your completed indemnity forms and driving licence have been reviewed.

Please ensure you have completed the forms before the briefing to save time for everyone.

Due to the large number of people we have had to split the briefings into groups. This has been done by your booking number and is in the same order in which you booked your attendance. The briefings will start at 9:15, take place approximately every 45 minutes and will be held in the left-hand dome of the Concept 1 building.

Please listen out for the announcements when each briefing will start, as if we can reduce the time taken for briefings to increase your driving time then we will.

Once you have attended your briefing everyone must complete escorted laps of the Alpine Hill Route and High Speed Bowl behind a Millbrook Follow-Me Car. If your car has multiple drivers then it is sufficient to observe the two circuits as a passenger.

After everyone has completed their first session, you will be able to go out again as many times as you like during Open Driving.

Open Driving

We are limited to fifty cars per time on each circuit and Millbrook will control the release of cars from the Steering Pad.

Cars out on circuit will be tracked by counting them out and back in.

During Open Driving please limit yourselves to two laps of either course before returning to the steering pad out of courtesy for your fellow club members, so everyone gets their opportunity to enjoy the venue.

Once back at the Steering Pad you may elect to go straight back out although you may have to queue.

Our use of the Millbrook facilities will be monitored by Millbrook’s own marshals around the site; they will be watching your driving and have the authority to revoke your driving privileges or remove you completely from the site.

Please do not try to leave Millbrook without returning to the Steering Pad to arrange your exit.

We all must be escorted back to the main entrance by a Millbrook Follow-Me Car.

There will be a marshal at the Steering Pad exit. Please speak to this marshal if you need to leave the site at any time and they will provide a Millbrook Follow-Me Car for you.

Last entrance to the circuits will be at 5pm and the event finishes at 6pm.

Catering

Catering facilities will be located outside the Concept 1 building, or you may bring a picnic.

Goody Bags and Merchandise

Goody bags can be collected from the Office staff in the reception area of the Concept 1 building at any time during the day, don’t forget to bring your ticket with you.

We will not be holding a traditional Concours event on Saturday, but a select group of judges will be watching and we have a few unusual trophies to be awarded on Saturday evening.
The TVRCC Promotional Vehicle will be on site throughout the day, staffed by our lovely Office team.

They will be able to offer a selection of merchandise bearing the new Club logo for your perusal. If the exact style or size you need is not available, you can place an order for drop shipping with them.

Photography and Filming

Our event is an open camera day at Millbrook, we expect many attendees to photograph and film the day and we will be too.

We look forward to you sharing your favourite moments with us, as we will with you.

The Activities - Saturday 21st August 2021

Picture
Included in the information pack will be your menu choices. Please check these are correct prior to the weekend and if any errors have been made, contact the TVRCC Office immediately on 01952 822126 so these can be rectified before the evening.

Music will be from 21:00 - 22:30, during which we will have a rare and special live session by Rhiannon B Wolfe, singer and songwriter, who will help us all boogie the night away.

The Activities - Sunday 22nd August 2021

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Reception has a capacity of 85 people every 30 minutes. However, due to the size of our group and the need to meet social distancing guidelines, we will need to stagger our arrival times so as not to overwhelm the venue.

We have not allocated arrival times so please feel free to make your way to Bletchley at your own pace.  Upon arrival, please follow the marshals to the dedicated TVR parking area.

You must be wearing your green wrist-band to gain admission to Bletchley Park so put them on BEFORE you arrive at reception.

Please hand reception your printed souvenir voucher and collect your guide book and self-guide headsets when you check in.
Picture
The day is yours to explore the fascinating Codebreaking Huts, the Museum in Block B and the Mansion itself.

The weekend officially ends at 5pm and we truly hope that you have enjoyed it.
One last thing is for us to give a huge THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who have helped over the weekend and we wish everyone a very safe journey home. Take care ‘til the next event!
