Golby and Marshall dominate at Snetterton

At the opening rounds of the 2011 Dunlop TVR European Challenge, incorporating the TVRCC Challenge Cup, Jamie Golby and TVR veteran racer Hugh Marshall traded honours ahead of Darren Smith.

Never having attended a DTEC race before at Snetterton, I was very curious about what the day would be like and I was not disappointed! For the paltry sum of £5 pounds, all the TVR owners that attended were treated to a great day out at the races with reserved parking, free tea and cake. The races themselves were only supposed to take 20mins to complete, but you would not have noticed as the time seemed to be far longer - which was a good thing! After the races were over, a number of us went down to the pits to meet the drivers and look over the cars while indulging in some tea and cake. All-in-all, a great day out for the both racing and a social event. Much recommended!

1-2 for Winstanley at Oulton

It was a 1-2 for Danny Winstanley in yesterday's GT Cup rounds at Oulton Park in his Sagaris. First in the opening race and second in the second just a whisper behind the eventual winner. Michael Saunders (Cerbera AJP8) took 5th in the first race and was pushing Winstanley for 2nd when he took to the kitty litter on the penultimate lap.

Fish ’n’ Chip Run

Although the turnout for this event was slightly disappointing, the day itself was a great run out by Dan for those who did attend. The trip down to Aldeburgh was sunny and all the roofs that could go down - did. The wait at the ever popular fish'n'chip shop was not too bad and afterwards, everyone retired to their cars to munch away.

Even though the showers came twice it didnt spoil a 130 mile run, with roofs down, through spectacular Yorkshire scenery.

What better to refill the tanks half way than a good old pie!

GT Cup - Oulton Park - Saturday 14th May

After taking P1 at Silverstone last month in the opening round of the GT Cup, only then to be disqualified, Michael Saunders will be in action again this weekend at Oulton Park against the big boys with serious financial backing.

Andy Holden and Darren Dowling had an initially difficult but ultimately successful day of racing today and did TVR proud against some awesome (and well financed) competition in the Dutch Supercar Challenge.

Beaconsfield Annual Car & Bike Show

Although an event primarily aimed at American Classics and hot-rods, the Beaconsfield show is open to any sports or classic car that wants to be marvelled at by the public. The show this year was held on a sunny bank holiday and featured a great range of classics and other hot-rods, plus a scattering of the odd TVR here and there. The show did not attract a large response from the local TVR community this year which was unfortunate, but those that did go enjoyed themselves immensely. The field was full of chrome as far as the eye could see and we also saw a number of classic British cars that sparked some interesting memories for some of us there.
