At an awards ceremony held at the NEC this evening, the TVR Car Club beat off fierce competition, notably from the BMW Car Club, to take the coveted Classic and Sports Car magazine trophy for Best Club Show/Event for Back Home 2006. The TVR Car Club can now announce its line up for this coming weekend's Classic Motor Show at NEC. With the theme of the show being Designs through the Decades, we have chosen to portray the changing shape of TVRs from the 1960s to the present day. But with so many models to choose from in that range, it proved difficult to select a range of cars within the limited space available to us that would best represent the marque. The TVR Car Club has been informed this morning that staff at TVR's Blackpool factory have been informed today (Wednesday) that the company is planning to outsource all production. Agreements are being finalised for the 2007 run of Tuscan, Tuscan Convertible and Sagaris to be produced in Europe while fully built powertrains - straight six, four-litre TVR engines including clutch and gearbox - are due to be produced in the UK. We have also received an update from the Transport and General Workers' Union, representing the staff, the contents of which are reproduced below.
After 20 rounds spanning the length and breadth of the country, the TVRCC Speed Championship title for 2006, and with it the Colin Parry Cup, goes to Simon Cole. With 199.78 points, the Yorkshire based 350/460 driver took the title from second placed entrant Paul Edwards piloting a T350C by just two points. Third, and leading Class A competitor home, was Steve Dennis in a Vixen S2. Despite starting in 9th place on the 5th row of the grid, it was Andy Holden (Tuscan#6) who took the chequered flag at Oulton Park in the final race of the 2006 Dunlop Tuscan Challenge/TVRCC Challenge Cup today. But the title goes to Graham Walden, who despite finishing in 5th position, managed to hold off the challenge from Marc Hockin to take the title and Class B honours by just 7 points. |
