![]() As members will have read on our discussion forums, in the local media in the North West and on Pistonheads, around 100 TVRs descended on Blackpool last Friday in a show of support for the production staff workers at TVR who sadly are probably going to lose their jobs as a result of the decision reported on this website three weeks ago that TVR is to out source manufacturing to an as yet undisclosed, but rumoured to be Italian, location. Following on from the success of this rally, a southern event, named London Thunder, is to take place in the capital on Sunday 26 November to support TVR in the UK and make a World Record Attempt. ![]() The outline plan is as follows: Several convoys from around the country to London. Transport for factory workers, and families from Blackpool to London. Meet in Central London at mid-day, meeting point to be confirmed. Departing at roughly 13:00 a convoy through London which may involve the presentation of a petition to the Prime Minister and which will culminate in an attempt to enter the Guinness World Records as the biggest gathering of a single marque. The official record stands at 249 MX-5s, so only 250 are needed to beat it (although as we all know, various TVRCC events in the past have exceeded this, most notably the 800-1000 TVRs present at both Mania 96 and Golden Mania 1997). We know that the record is there for the breaking as well over 100 cars are already registered and the details of the event were only announced yesterday. At approximately 15:00 regroup for a convoy to a hostelry for refreshments, before departing for home. We must stress that although this event is being organised principally by a TVR Car Club member, it is not a TVRCC organised event. Comments are closed.
