In class A, the ferocious battle between the pesky Vixens of Stewart Lobley, Geoff Stallard, Steve Dennis and Alan Bankhurst kicks off all over again. Class A course record holder Steve Dennis (64.69) was narrowly beaten by "Diff Buster" Geoff Stallard on handicap last time they met at Loton but Steve wants it back. Stewart Lobley wants a piece of the action too especially following his superb showing at MIRA last time out. Alan Bankhurst's Vixen is really flying just now so he'll be in the mix too.
In Class B Matt Oakley will want to consolidate his own record (59.05) having been beaten on a snowy day in April by Paul Edwards' T350C with a best time of 60.71. Dave Morris is also entered for Loton although we haven't seen his 500bhp Tuscan this year yet owing to gearbox problems. New lady entrant Tina Hawkes makes her first appearance on the hill (and in the championship) so we look forward to seeing her on Saturday. Coxy's V8S is having a dismal season - in his own words "it doesn't go and it doesn't handle, but apart from that it's fine". Recent suspicions that the 500 has not been benefiting from full ignition AND was handling like a cow on wet lino were proved right this week. A rolling road test showed 256 horsepower instead of 300 so changes this week to ensure full combustion in all 8 cylinders (rather than 5) should prove beneficial as will the replacement of a front anti rollbar made of pure marshmallow. Other key players on the hill this weekend will be 2004 championship winner Tony Bradfield, never to be underestimated - and the excellent Alan Hugh Davies who enjoyed a superb victory at Gurston Down on 20th April. Completing the top tier this weekend will be the "never knowingly undersold" 2005 championship winner Jes Firth. Jes was 3rd at MIRA two weeks ago but as he says himself, "the bar is higher now" - and he's right, it is. There are 21 TVRs on the hill this weekend so it should be a brilliant event! Practice starts at 9am, first official timed runs will start at about lunch time. Please come along and support the championship. Comments are closed.
